Born in Burke County, NC on December 11, 1946, he was the son of the late Harold Lee Yancey and Pauline Grace Crooks Yancey.
Dennis was a member of Glen Alpine Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed watching automobile racing. He loved to talk and never met a stranger. He loved his family very much.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Yancey.
The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Zion Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 12 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Keith Rose and the Rev. Stephen Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard. At other times the family will be at the home on Spainhour Road.
