Cecile A. Baca, age 56, beloved wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend, was called home by our Heavenly Father on Sunday, December 31, 2017, after a heroic thirteen year battle with breast cancer.
Never one to succumb to adversity, Cecile fought with courage and determination to beat this disease and though her fight was successful three different times the cancer returned each time with a vengeance.
Though in pain most of the time, Cecile remained a supportive, loving wife, mother and grandmother. Cecile led by example dealing with the cancer on her terms, never letting it interfere with her desire to be available for her family when they needed her. Recognized for her humor, fierce intelligence, integrity and creativity, Cecile was known as feisty soul with passion for life and a deep love for her family and friends, which resulted in unconditional support at all times. Cecile's struggles contributed to her tenacious spirit and her passing will leave a huge hole in our hearts and our lives.
A lifelong resident of Bernalillo where Cecile was active in her community serving on the board of the Coronado Little League for eight years, later serving as the league Vice President and as President.
Cecile was a voracious reader and was known to be the keeper of miscellaneous facts that she would share at the oddest times. Cecile loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed fishing and camping on the San Juan River with her family and spending time at the ranch.
Cecile was preceded in death by her father, Hipolito Aguilar.
Cecile leaves behind her loving husband of 35 years, Martín Baca, her mother, Mary E. Aguilar-Lee, her sons, Manuel Baca (Lupe), Martín Baca Sr. (Barbara) and a daughter, Cristina Thomson (Mark), grandchildren, Martín Baca Jr., Rebecca Baca, Aayden Baca, Lauren Thomson, Nathaniel Baca, Tristan Thomson and Annalicia Baca, siblings, Hipolito Aguilar (Patricia), Bernadette Wilson (Steve), Mary Rose Abousleman (Gary), Patrick Aguilar and Christopher Aguilar (Gretta) and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
