TIPPAH COUNTY - Daniel Edward "Danny" Yancey. 69, resident pf the Ripley Community and well known retired plant manager for Oil-Dri Corporation, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2017, at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo following an illness of several months.
At the request of Mr. Yancey there will be a Private Family Funeral Service in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Dr. Jack Bennett of Ripley officiating. Private Family Interment will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Walnut. arrangements will be provided by Ripley Funeral Home.
Born February 24, 1948, in Blue Mountain, is the son of Viola Glidewell Yancey of Ripley and the late Buford Yancey. Mr. Yancey was a graduate of Falkner High School and was a devoted employee of the Oil-Dri Corporation for fifty years until his retirement 2 years ago. He was married September 30, 1966, to his devoted wife of fifty-one years, Kay Newman Yancey, who survives.
A member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Mr. Yancey will be remembered for his love of all things outdoors that included hunting, fishing and watching Bill Dance television fishing series.
Devoted to his work and respected by many, Mr. Yancey possessed a strong work ethic that will be instilled in his family and those that he worked with for years to come.
He also leaves three sons, Donald Yancey of Ripley, Ron Yancey (Tonya) of Tupelo and Travis Yancey (Rikki) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two sisters, Margaret Hopper (Billy) and Becky Carter (David), both of Ripley; six grandchildren, Amber and Chase Yancey of Ripley, Alexis and Grant Yancey of Tupelo and Nathan and Anna Yancey of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two great granddaughters, Scarlett Bailey and Evelyn Yancey; and a host of friends.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Sanctuary Hospice House, 5159 W. Main St., Tupelo, MS 38801
