Phyllis Jean Joens, the daughter of Hans and Verna (Puhrmann) Joens, was born on January 21, 1937 in Paullina, Iowa. She graduated from Lake Park High School in 1955. On November 5, 1955 Phyllis was married to James E. Davis in Lake Park. Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing BINGO at the Algona Senior Citizens Center.
Left to cherish Phyllis’s memory are her children, Lisa Bartz and her husband Merlin of Grafton, Diane Engler and her husband Alan of Colorado Springs, CO, Darryl Davis and his wife Wilma of Oklahoma City, OK and Kathryn Thilges and her husband Kraig of Algona; nine grandchildren, Kimberly, Will, Marena, Timothy, Dustin, Cody, Ryan, Eric and Joshua; five great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Nona Joens of Lake Park and Marge (Rev. Gary) Arp of Marion; and a brother-in-law, Dan (Arlene) Davis of Garner. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Glen and Arnie Joens; and a sister, Mardell Bates.
