--Dora was 4th of 5 children of Davenport Phelps Ellis and wife Lucy Alice Atkinson.
--Occupation: Teacher in the public schools in Meriwether County, GA in 1910 and 1920. By 1930 she had relocated to Charlotte, NC where she owned an employment agency. She later owned and operated a Business school in Charlotte.
--Never married. When she lived in Charlotte, she lived with her sister Mae, also a teacher. Their widowed mother Lucy lived with them for some years.
--She donated her body to the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. She was later cremated.
