Survivors include a step-daughter, Louise Sharidan of Alexandria, VA; a brother, Lloyd Ping and niece, Jo Wiley, both of Springfield, IL.
She was born in Auburn, daughter of the late Harley and Ella (Gleeson) Ping, and was the widow of Roy L. Abbott.
Mrs Abbott was a professor at The University of Northern Iowa. She had given freely to many charitable organizations over the years.
