Muncie - Ronald Freddie Ray, 79, peacefully passed away in his home on January 6, 2018 after an extended illness. Ron has requested only graveside services in Annville, Kentucky, where he will rest with his first wife.

Ron was born in London, Kentucky on July 11,1938 to Fred and Marie (Bruner) Ray. He was the eldest of six children. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, prior to moving to Muncie. Ron married his first wife, Jo Ann Taylor in 1960 and both were integral to their near 30 years in dry-cleaning at Muncie One Hour Cleaners. In 1989, Jo Ann preceded Ron to heaven in an auto accident. In 1992, Ron was blessed to marry Carol (Nottingham) and the two re-entered the dry-cleaning business in 1996 with Muncie and Yorktown Cleaners. Uninterested in retiring, Ron continued working at Westminster Village until his health declined.

Ron was a devoted father, grandfather and an active church member for over 55 years at Grace Baptist Church in Muncie. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Russell Ray and Gary Ray, sisters Phyllis Jones and Pearl Ray. He leaves behind his wife Carol, sister, Ruby Proffitt of Mason, OH, daughters, Ronda Potter (Timothy) of Mentor, OH, Janelle Richards (Jeff) of Hagerstown, IN, step-daughter Lisa (Richard) Summer of Tuscon, AZ, and eight grandchildren, Wesley, Bailey, Caleb, Micah, Noah, Emma, Seth and Eli and endless family, friends, and loved ones.

In lieu of flowers, Ron has asked that memorial contributions be made to Grace Baptist Church or Heritage Hall Christian School of Muncie, IN via the Jo Ann Ray memorial fund. Due to his extended illness, Ron has been able to share and visit with so many family, friends, community and church members. It has been a blessing to him and us to share in the memories and heart-felt expressions. There will be a memorial service commemorating Ron and his life at Grace Baptist Church, 6401 River Road, Muncie, IN on January 20, at 1:30 p.m. Friends are welcome to join us to celebrate his life.
