A. Dale Hollenbaugh, 94, of Homer City, Pa., formerly of Warren, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at the St. Andrew’s Village, Indiana, Pa.

He was born in 1923 in Punxsutawney, Pa., to Albert Walter and Amanda Pearl Wolfe Hollenbaugh.

Mr. Hollenbaugh was a member of the Brush Valley Chapel. He enjoyed tinkering, toy trains, shopping at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Shop, flea markets, yard sales and attending family birthday parties.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in central Europe as a reconnaissance car crewman.
He had resided in Warren for 30 years, where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Heckett Engineering at Republic Steel.

Following retirement, he was a part of the Red Cap Gang at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

He is survived by one daughter, Jeanne Mae Culligan of Spokane Valley, Wash.; one grandson, Christopher “Adam” Dean Browne of Los Angeles; one brother and one sister, Alma Rhine of Homer City, Pa. and Harry David Hollenbaugh of Home, Pa.; one brother-in-law, Elmer George “Bud” Shuster of Blairsville, Pa.; one sister-in-law, Birgetta Shuster of Gaithersburg, Md.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Virginia Shuster Hollenbaugh in 2013; and three sisters and one brother, Mary Little, Margaret Parsley, Lois McCullough and Samuel Lawson Hollenbaugh.

Entombment will be made in the Pine View Memorial Park in Warren, Ohio.
