Farrell L. Adams, 60, of Goodview, Va., made that final journey to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, August 31, 2010. After two years of struggling with cancer our Father has said, "Son come home for you have been my good and faithful servant." He will be greatly missed by his church family at Victory Praise Fellowship, co-workers, family and friends. He touched the lives of many people and will never be forgotten. Preceded in death was his loving mother, Mary W. Adams; and sister, Julie A. Fisher. He is survived by his high school sweetheart of 41 years, Mabel G. Adams; loving daughters, Kimberly A. Strother and Charles Strother, of Walnut Cove, N.C., Jody A. Umberger and special son-in-law and friend, Joshua Umberger, of Roanoke; grandchildren, Brandee Hash and husband, Jonathan, of Vinton, Tori Strother, Sarah Strother and Michael Strother, of Walnut Cove, N.C.; great-granddaughter, Zoey Allyanna Hash, of Vinton; father, Robert L. Adams, of Roanoke; brothers, John Adams and Belinda, of Salem, Douglas Adams and Theresa, of Richmond, Va.; and sister, Teresa A. Slate and Roger, of Salem. The family would like to thank Ron Graham and the countless number of people that has prayed for Farrell and our family during the last two years. A special thank you to the staff on 10 South the Palliative Care Unit and Hospice at CRMH. The family would also like to thank a special golfing friend, Stan Groggins, for his kindness and his friendship this last year. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3, 2010, at the Lotz Salem Chapel with Pastor Ray Widener officiating. Interment will be held at Cedar Lawn Burial Park.
