1967 Pahlitzsch Reunion in Vancouver, Washington: Henry 'Hank', John 'Dutch', Joe, Karl, Mary & Bill. Sitting behind Henry was John Carl Nowadnick, Mary's husband. Behind Bill was Sandra Lee Houghland, my eldest sister.

Mary & Johnny were rather well off. She was a homemaker & Johnny a rather good prosperous business man. He owned a moving & storage company. Was big in the Republican Party & was rewarded with the job of postmaster later in life. I think it was in Chehalis as that's where their home was. Their daughters had a lot of the finer things in life. Mary Jane had piano recitals & Anna Lee had horse riding lessons, etc. I know she rode side saddle as they kept the saddle long after she went to Hawaii. How many people do you know that sent their kids to Hawaii in the 1940's as a gift? I was in awe of her when about 14 when she came home for a visit. Never saw her again. Very frail looking but had 5 kids, I think. Word was she wanted to come home but couldn't face bringing mixed race kids to a town like Chehalis. So she stayed but did get divorce the husband & controlling family that operated as most old world Asian families did.
