Benjamin K Keppler was born 1921 in Ralston, Adams Co. Washington one of seven brothers (Paul, Herbert, Reinhardt, Helmut, Benjamin, David, and Arnold) and one elder sister, (Louise). His parents emigrated from Germany in the early 1900's and settled in Eastern Washington as Benjamin had an uncle Jacob living in Cashmere, WA. This area, with fertile wheat fields, attracted many ethic German farmers . His family lived in Ralston, WA for several years before moving on to other communities in Eastern Washington and settling in Wapato, WA before moving on to South Dakota . Benjamin graduated from Wapato High School .
