Final rites for the late Frederick Carl Markwardt, 85, to be conducted Tuesday. The deceased was a native of Mecklenburg, Germany and had lived in this area for 42 years. He was born May 1, 1865 and died last Thursday.
Surviving are the widow, Augusta, two sons, Theodore R. and Frederick O. Markwardt, both of Chiloquin; two daughters, Mrs. Lillian Owens of Klamath Falls, and eight grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Markwardt came to the United States when he was sixteen, first making his home in Wisconsin with an uncle.
He married Augusta Scheffler July 2, 1891 at Denver. In 1894 he came to Oregon to settle at Gresham where he was engaged in dairying and farming.
He came to Klamath Falls in 1909 and for years he gardened in the Mills Addition. The family home was at 815 Washburn.
