At the time of Frederick's Birth Denver was actually in Arapahoe County. Arapahoe County was formed in 1864 with Denver as its County Seat. It wasn't until 1901 that the county was split and Denver became a part of Denver County.
He was always called "Fritz". He came with his parents to Klamath Falls in 1908. He attended school here and graduated from Klamath County High School. He served in the military in World War I.

He married Henrietta Fischer at Klamath Falls May 10, 1919. In 1922 they moved to Chiloquin, where he became a partner with his brother, Ted Markwardt in operation if Markwardt Bros. Chiloquin Garage. The garage was sold four years ago (1973) when Mr. Markwardt retired.

Mr. Markwardt lived at Chiloquin until his death. He served as a city councilman from 1927 to 1965 and was a member of the original volunteer fire department. He belonged to the Chiloquin Chamber of Commerce and served on the Klamath County Roads Advisory Board from its organization until his retirement.

He was a longtime member of the Klamath Falls Elks Lodge and the Chiloquin Masonic Lodge. He was master of the Masonic Lodge at the time of his death. He also belonged to the Klamath Scottish Rite, York rite, Hillah Temple of Shrine and Klamath Falls Shrine Club. He was rajah of the Hillah Shrine Temple for the Chiloquin area for many years. He was grand marshal of the first Annual Western Days parade.

Avocation included fishing, hunting, and flying his own airplane. When he quit flying five years ago, he was the oldest licensed pilot still flying as a member of the Oregon Pilots Association.
