He was born on August 19, 1938 in St. Louis to Joseph and Betty (Moore) Goetz. Larry grew up in the St. Louis area, graduating from Berkeley High School.
At the age of 27, he began working for the Missouri Highway Patrol as an officer, managing the weight scales, as an undercover agent for the D.E.A. and as a Desk Sergeant at Troop "C" and lastly for the Gaming Commission.
Throughout all these years, he also worked in construction as a drywall taper. He did not have a lazy bone in his body. Larry was a high energy person who liked to make things happen. In his earlier years, he also raised miniature beagles, pointers and setters. Larry was married to Mary (nee Doll) Goetz, and together their family consisted of three children: Debbie, David and Shelley. Larry appreciated his family very much.
Surviving are his three children: Debbie and husband John Finklang of Lake St. Louis, David Goetz of St.Charles and Shelley Wichmann of O'Fallon, MO; his five grandchildren: Michelle and husband Kyle Huber, Brandee and husband Josh Brooks, Jackson Wichmann, William Wichmann, Emma Wichmann and a great-granddaughter, Alivia Huber; his brother, Harley and wife Phyllis Goetz of Camdenton; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary and his sister, Carol Vogel.
Visitation scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO.
A Funeral Mass scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the St. Mary's Church in Hawk Point, MO. Fr. John Keenoy to officiate. Interment to follow in the Hawk Point City Cemetery, Hawk Point.
