Dorothy grew up and lived most of her life in Central & Southern Indiana. In addition to running a family farm, she had several entrepreneurial endeavors including co-owning "Glenn's Appliances" of Shelbyville, Indiana with her brother, Loren G. Froman. She spent much of her free time researching the genealogy of the Froman family tracking several ancestors back to their departure from Europe via Strasbourg in the 16th and 17th centuries. Surviving are her sons, James (Cindy) Woolsey of Oklahoma; Michael (Leslie) Osborne of Denver, Colorado; A. Edward (Heather) Stoddard of Morristown, Indiana; daughters, Deanna (Tom) Pass of Edinburgh, Indiana; Janetta (Karl) Taylor of Indianapolis, Indiana; brothers, Harold Froman of Indianapolis, Indiana; Don Froman of Greenwood, Indiana; Dale Froman of Dale, Indiana; Lee Froman of Lincoln City, Indiana; and sister Bonnie Stevens of Indianapolis, Indiana; as well as 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death is her mother, Doshia (Barton) Froman, father Ernest Froman, step-mother Helen (Bass) Froman, and brothers, Robert Froman and Loren Froman.
