Father Of Roach Roberts Dies,. Was Buckeye Pioneer
The Roach Roberts family attended funeral services Monday afternoon for Mr. Roberts' father John G. Roberts, a 79-yearold Buckeye Valley pioneer, who passed away Friday after a long illness.

Born in Trinidad, Colo., August 3, 1874, he came to Arizona with his family when he was 12. They settled in the Buckeye Valley after first living a year in South Phoenix. He farmed and did cowboy work, later homesteading a ranch north of Palo Verde.

Mr. Roberts helped in the construction of the Arizona and Buckeye canals, served a term as cattle inspector, and was deputy sheriff at Buckeye under three Maricopa County sheriffs.

He also had been a constable in the Buckeye district.

He was a member of the Arizona Pioneers Union and of the:1 Buckeye and West Gila Valley Old Settlers Union.

Funeral services were held in the Palo Verde Community Church, with burial in Palo Verde Cemetery.
