Mrs. Mary Morrow Adams, widow of the late Clark Adams and member of one of the leading families of Gadsden, died at her home on Walnut street at 2:45 o'clock Monday afternoon, following an illness of several months. She had been gradually losing strength for a long time and her passing was not unexpected. It came as a great shock to the family and to friends and acquaintances and will cause universal sorrow wherever she was known.
Funeral services will be held at the home this afternoon at 4 o'clock and will be conducted by the Rev. Ivan H. Trusler.
Mrs. Adams was born in Hale County in 1858, and her family moved to Gadsden in 1881. She was married to Clark Adams in 1883. Hers is the first death in a family of eight children.
Surviving are six children: Will D. Adams, of Gadsden; E.C. Adams of Gautamala, Central America; Thomas F. Adams, of Birmingham; Mrs. Mary Taylor and Misses Helen Adams and Jane Adams of Gadsden and four grandchildren, Dick Taylor, Charles Taylor and Clark Adams Taylor and Thomas F. Adams, Jr.
The following brothers and sisters also survive: S.M. Morrow, of San Antonio, Texas; T.W. Morrow of Gadsden; Mrs. Alice Hardestry of New Orleans; Mrs. Annie Fulton of Sumpterville; Mrs. Eugene Pentecost and Mrs. Lula Johnson and Misses Emma Morrow and Rosa Morrow of Gadsden and Miss Mattie Morrow of Atlanta.
Clark Adams, husband of the deceased, died in 1925.
Mrs. Adams was best known in the city for her church work, particularly that part which related to charity............. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
