LABENSKE, LOIS
On March 25, 2007, Lois Labenske, 79, responded to the summons of the Master's voice to enter His eternal kingdom. Born in Walla Walla, WA, she was the fifth daughter of Ernest and Estella Santo. As a young girl she accepted Christ as Savior and was called to Christian service. Receiving her RN and BS in Nursing from Samaritan Hospital and Northwest Nazarene Univ. (NNU) in Nampa, ID, she entered missionary service in the Church of the Nazarene where she served for four years in British Honduras (now Belize). She returned from the mission field and married REV. ELBERT LABENSKE , serving for 25 years as a pastor's wife. She served as a school nurse in Dallas, TX; a maternity nursing instructor in Fort Smith, AR; a maternity nurse in Portland, OR and a school nurse in El Monte, CA. She earned the MS in Nursing at Cal State LA. She was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers, Robert and Loren Santo, and by sisters, Rowena Corlett, Lela Santo and Marian White. She is survived by her husband, Elbert Labenske; by daughters, LINDA LYNN & KAREN MILLER ; by son, VICTOR LABENSKE ; by brothers, Wilfred and Rod Santo; by sister, Wanda Brockel; by seven grandchildren, and by seven great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Singing Hills Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at San Diego First Church of the Nazarene, 3901 Lomaland Drive.
