A graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, Mrs. Rives attended the University Of Alabama and was part-owner of Twichell House Antiques in Spartanburg, SC. She was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg, former president and member of the Spartanburg Jayceettes, and a volunteer with Charles Lea Center. She was also a member of the Woman’s Garden Club, a substitute teacher at Whitlock Junior High School, and was involved with the Miss Spartanburg Pageant.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Joseph L. Rives; son, Joseph Lee Rives Jr. of Boiling Springs, SC; granddaughter, Jessica Lee Rives of Boiling Springs, SC; sister, Lillian R. Smith of Birmingham, AL; nieces, Becky, Martha, and Susie Powers, all of Dale City, VA, Gayle Wirhun of Atlanta, GA, Amy S. Ingle of Birmingham, AL, Lesa S. Johnson of Nashville, TN, and Linda Powers Farley of Fredericksburg, VA; and nephews, Paul Roberts Jr. of Tuscaloosa, AL, Billy Smith of Huntsville, AL, and Billy Powers of Woodbridge, VA. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sons, Mark Roberts Rives and William Christopher Rives; and siblings, Dickie Roberts, Lucy Powers, and Louise Roberts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Matthew Bishop and The Rev. Sal Barone. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens
