Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Bill Callister officiating. Burial will be in Blackstone Cemetery. Winterrowd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Arlene was born Oct. 20, 1931, in Streator, to Amiel and Mildred (Burrows) Reick. She married Russell Applegate on June 22, 1952. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2001.
Surviving are nieces, Kathy McAllister, of Streator, and Amy Reick, of Joliet; nephews, Brian Reick, of Auburn, Ala., and Gary Flori, of Naperville; a great-niece, Shannon Majercin, of Streator; and several great nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Carol Jean; a son, Craig; brothers, Amiel, Leroy and William Reick; and a sister, Ardella Flori.
She graduated from Streator High School in 1949 and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
She retired from Owens-Illinois Glass. Arlene enjoyed playing cards especially with her neighbors and was an avid cat lover.
Memorials may be made in her name to either St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or Pet Project.
