He was a faithful member of First Assembly of God in Russellville. He loved to sing and was a member of the Jubelers Men's Quartet. Vernon was kind and always willing to help his family and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Donald and Shelia Rye.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Louise Rye; his son and step-son and their spouses, Eric and Anne Rye of Tallahassee, Florida and Joseph and Kasey King of Rogers; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Alton and Anne Rye and Dr. Charles and Dr. Ann Rye; a sister, Wanda and Rev. Bob Perry; and two grandchildren, Evan Maxwell Rye and Finley King.
The family will receive friends 9:30 a.m., until service time at the church.
The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2018, at First Assembly of God with the Rev. Ronnie Morris officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
