Redmond, Utah - "Pa", "Uncle Dudley", "Oscar Vogel" or just "Allred", Ronald Horne Allred age 72, passed away on January 16, 2018 at his home in Redmond. He was born February 3, 1945 in Salina, a son of Byron W. and Elaine Horne Allred. He was our son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to anyone he come in contact with.
Ron was raised in Salina and graduated from North Sevier High school. After which, he furthered his education in Provo at Provo Tech, studying Diesel and Heavy Duty Mechanics.
He married Susan Holt in November of 1967 in Salina, Utah. They had 3 boys and were later divorced. He lived in his home at the "West Pole" of Redmond for the past 46 years and always said there is no better place to raise kids.
He has run a family farm where he raised his three boys, and was a proud father figure to many others.
He worked for the Department of Transportation for thirty years. In addition, he volunteered for over twenty-five years for the Salina Fire Department, served two years as a Redmond Town Councilman and four years as the Mayor of Redmond.
He collected cowboy memorabilia and loved to restore old buildings; his yard and home is a collection of cowboy souvenirs and similar memorabilia including the old Redmond Town Jail. His home and yard have an old western feel and look, and is a popular photo shoot location.
In addition to his hobbies of collecting, restoring, farming and volunteering, Ron enjoyed hunting, riding horses and cooking for crowds. Ron strived to help anyone with any venture.
