Survived by a daughter, Michelle Blass (Jim); a grandson, Alex; a great-grandchild, Matthew, all of Hummelstown; a sister, Carol of Ohio; a brother, John of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Darlene J. (Rupp) Cartwright, and a brother, Wayne.
Richard was a graduate of Altoona High School. He retired from Norfolk Southern in 2002. He was an active member of Kingdom Hall, Altoona.
He enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing and traveling. He loved the mountains and the outdoors, and especially loved Altoona.
At the request of the deceased there will be no viewing or services. Interment will take place privately at Carson Valley Cemetery.
