Abbott, Betty Emma (Rock)

GLENS FALLS * Betty Emma (Rock) Abbott, of Glens Falls, was called home to God on Friday, March 23, 2007.

Born June 1, 1931, in Hudson Falls, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Selina (Rabideau) Rock.

After retiring many years ago, with 35 years at Scott Paper Company, Betty became involved with hobbyist landscaping, always working on her yard and others.

She was quick to travel, always there to help anyone in need and a faithful member of St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls.

Betty was a familiar face at polls on Murray Street for many years, involved in local politics and was a regular 'power walker,' a smiling face that will be missed on Glens Falls streets, but forever carried in many hearts.

Besides her parents, waiting to welcome her home are her husband Sam Abbott, whom she married in January 1953, he passed away in 1999, and three of her brothers, Oliver Delocco, Ross and Roger Rock, along with other family members.

Betty leaves a legacy of two children, Shelley Abbott of California, Samuel Abbott and his wife, Doreen, of Owensboro, Ky.; and her four beloved grandchildren, Timothy Abbott of California, Samantha Abbott Aurelia of North Carolina, Sammy and Nicole Abbott of Owensboro, Ky. Four brothers, Chester Rock of Fort Ann, William Rock and his wife, Lizette, of Clifton Park, Paul Rock and his wife, Yvonne, of Hudson Falls, and Melvin Rock and his wife, Minnie, of Fort Edward, and two sisters, June Rock of Enfield, N.H., and Selina Doriski and her husband, Harry, of Queensbury also survive her. She leaves behind her brother-in-law, Abraham Abbott and his wife, Janet, of Glens Falls, her sisters-in-law, Vicky Abbott of Rochester and Emily Abbott of Greenwich, as well as many nieces, nephews and treasured friends.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, April 2, at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls.

Burial will follow at St. George's Cemetery, South Glens Falls.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 1, at Singleton-Healy Funeral Home, 407 Bay Road, Queensbury.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty's memory may be made to Purrs & Paws, Route 9L, Lake George, NY 12845.
