Jorgen was born in Oster Hornum, Alborg, Alborg, Denmark to Herman Christian Davidensen Dunn and Inger Marie Pedersen Nysum. (In Denmark the last name was taken from the given name of the father with 'sen' or 'son' added on the end - so Jorgens last name became 'Hermansen')
Jorgen married Anne (Ane) Kirstine Jensen March 1, 1870 in Denmark. They went to Nibe, Denmark April 5, 1874. They later moved to Copenhagen February 26, 1899.
