Ronald Stephen Baumgartner was born October 4, 1936, the son of Steve and Hazel (Ness) Baumgartner, in Minot. He was raised on the family farm located in Rice Lake Township of Ward County, north of Ryder, and attended Rice Lake Township School. As a young adult, he assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm and eventually took over the operation of the farm.
Ron married Laurella Faye “Lou” Lindahl December 5, 1980, in Minot. They made their home north of Ryder, ND. Lou passed away May 10, 2009.
Ron enjoyed playing guitar, singing, and riding horseback. In the last few years, he enjoyed tending to his beehives and giving honey to family and friends.
Surviving family includes: brothers, Arlyn (Dawn) Baumgartner, Columbia Falls, MT, and Duane (Jolene) Baumgartner, Rice Lake, ND; brother-in-law, Albert Lindahl; sisters-in-law, Lola Hagen, Elaine Lindahl, and Eloise Watson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, “adopted” daughters, and “special” friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 29 years, Lou; sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Marvin Marum; brother, Marvin Baumgartner.
