Leonard was the youngest of eleven children of Robert Omar & Eva Annie Carroll Bonnell. He married Ruby Celina Dermid on 17 Oct, 1937 in Brevard, N. C. They had one child, Loretta Gail Bonnell who was born 24 Mar, 1939. He was the grandfather of Douglas W. Foster & Mark B. Foster. Leonard was the great-grandfather of Jacob Foster and Brennan Foster. Robert was a merchant and contractor in North Carolina. He and his wife moved to Louisville, KY in 1994.
