Roger Tippy, age 63, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born July 7, 1947 in Sikeston, MO, son of Wanda (Nimmo) Tippy of Sikeston and the late Vernon Tippy. He was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and worked as a maintenance mechanic for 29 years at Noranda Aluminum. On November19, 1965, he was married to Gelena Savat; she survives of the home in Sikeston. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Derek & Erica Tippy of Kailua, HI and Brad & Valerie Tippy of Nashville, TN; two daughters and one son-in-law, Malissa Williams of Sikeston and Derenda & Paul Russell of Scott City, MO; two brothers, Randy Tippy and Danny Tippy both of Sikeston; four sisters, Jo Meeker, Vernell Gaddis, P.K. Robison, and Theresa Wolverton all of Sikeston; and 13 grandchildren, April Williams, Dustin Williams, Jessica Tippy, Gavin Bewley, Samantha Tippy, Skyler Bewley, Jacob Tippy, Trinity Tippy, Madison Tippy, Johnny Tippy, Haven Tippy, Matthew Tippy, and Olivia Tippy. Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 5, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Ponder Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 6, at 10:00 a.m. The Rev. Jerry Adams, pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
