PORT LAVACA - Ken Monroe, 53, chief appraiser of the Calhoun County Appraisal District, died Wednesday afternoon at West Houston Medical Center in Houston after undergoing surgery for a heart ailment, a hospital spokesman said. Funeral services were pending.

PORT LAVACA - Ken Monroe, 53, of Port Lavaca died Thursday, Jan. 5, 1994.
He was born July 2, 1940, in Houston to Robert Hugh and Anne Kennedy Monroe of Victoria. He was a U.S. Air Force Reserve veteran. He was chief tax appraiser employed by Calhoun County Appraisal District. Mr. Monroe was a member of Rotary Club, Texas Association of Assessing Officers and the Episcopal Church.
Survivors: wife, Linda Monroe; stepdaughter, Nancy Herod of Denton; stepsons, Arthur Hagar III of Grand Prairie and Thad Gregory Hagar of Palestine; his parents; and three grandchildren.
Family visitations: 7-9 p.m. today, Colonial Funeral Home chapel in Port Lavaca.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home chapel.
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery in Forth Worth, Colonial Funeral Home, Port Lavaca, (361) 552-9766.
