of Fayette, formerly of Salisbury and Keytesville, died at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO. Jay was born in Vivian [Vian?], Oklahoma the son of Arva and Eva (Nichols) Bean. He married Mary Francis Davis and she preceded him in death in 1975. On January 7, 1979 he married Leona Brandes and she preceded him in death in June 1993.
Mr Bean served in the US State Army during WWII in the European Theater, receiving an honorable discharge in 1945. He was a farmer; worked as an outside serviceman for 21 years at the Salisbury Milling Co; Howard County Co-op for 5 years and Pilot Grove Farm Supply. Mr Bean was a member of the Salisbury Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cleve Iman Memorial VFW Post 4935 in Keytesville and the Salisbury American Legion Post #391.

Mr Bean is survived by two sons, Gary L Bean and wife Sharon of Glasgow, MO; John Arva Bean and wife Kathy of Salisbury; daughter Bonnie J Ray and husband Jim of Blackwater; two step-sons, Lester Brandes, Jr of Lone Elm, MO and Jim Brandes of Blue Springs, MO; nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren and three nephews. His wives, Mary Francis Davis and Leona Brandes; a son Dennis J Bean, Sept 15, 1992 and sister Lou Edith Hammentree, preceded him in death.
