Robert “Bob” Beaupre, of Barnum, was 91 years of age when he died peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 in Lino Lakes Assisted Living. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marion in 2006; son, Gene Beaupre; three grandsons, Robert Wholters, Andy Beaupre, and Gary Beaupre; daughter-in-law, Jean Wholters; parents, Edward and Cecelia Beaupre; three sisters, Lucille, Veronica “Noni”, and Mary; and four brothers, Russell, Roger, Duane, and Francis.

Bob grew up in the Carlton and Cloquet areas and attended school in Cloquet. At the age of eight, his mother died, and his oldest sister Lucille took care of the siblings.

Bob was a Navy Veteran of WWII where he was stationed in several ports during the war and had also took part in the A-Bomb testing in the Bikini Lagoon in the Pacific Islands.

After the service, he moved to St. Paul where he met Marion whom he married on July 20, 1948 in Milbank, South Dakota. They lived in St. Paul and later moved to Circle Pines while Bob worked for over 30 years at the Ford Plant in St. Paul.

He was on the Circle Pines Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over 20 years retiring as Captain. Bob also was an ambulance driver and was a gun safety instructor.

After retiring from Ford, Bob and Marion moved to Barnum which Bob referred to as the greatest place on earth. Bob worked for a short time at Potlatch in Cloquet. He built his own log home on his property and was a wonderful caretaker of Marion over the years.

He was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church where volunteered as a server for Mass, delivered communion, and was a member of the Men’s Club. Bob was a member of the VFW and the Ford Union.

Through the years, Bob loved his canoeing and camping trips with the Anderson Gang in the Boundary Waters. He also loved hunting with his kids and grandkids on his land, fishing, camping, and going on numerous elk hunting trips in the mountains of Colorado with his brother, Roger and his family. He also enjoyed cribbage, stained glass, embroidery, sewing, ceramics, making rosaries for the prisoners and community, and reading. He was truly a handy man and was proud that he had a chance to enjoy retirement and collect his pension longer than he worked!
