Author, Playwright. He began to publish his poetry while still attending Harvard. He was editor of "The Harvard Advocate." He was named Class Poet. He graduated in 1881, and wrote the ceremony's "Class Poem." He went on to write plays for the Broadway theater. His biggest hit play was "In Old Kentucky," written in 1891. The popular play was adapted into book form. It was also filmed four times, including a version starring Will Rogers. Charles T. Dazey continued writing throughout his life, including the novel "The Old Flute Player: A Romance of Today," in 1910. He also contributed some of his wealth toward philanthropic projects. He funded the first public library in Fargo, North Dakota. He donated land toward the building of a town which became Dazey, North Dakota.
