Gwen Hulsey, 81, of Hazel Green, passed away on Friday.

Gwen graduated from the University of North Dakota in 1957 receiving her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She was a Registred Nurse and spent her life serving others through her career in healthcare. She served as Director of Nursing at Fifth Avenue Hospital in Huntsville, worked at Lincoln County Hospital in Fayetteville, Tennessee and taught the LPN program, and was the Director of Home Health Care in Fayetteville. In 1989, she, along with her husband, founded Agape Village and Agape Manor in Hazel Green and expanded the business to include eight facilities across North Alabama.

Gwen loved singing in the church choir, cooking, her flower gardens, and being a nurse. She was a dedicated Christian and was a faithful member of Hazel Green United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albin & Elizabeth Evans Langlie, and by her siblings: Roger Langlie, Cleone Clayton, Sondra Giegling, Patricia Johnson, Noral Langlie, and Linda Dvorak.

Surviving family members include her husband of 52 years, Mickey Hulsey; Her son and daughter-in-law, Eric & Michele Hulsey; Her daughter and son-in-law, Erin & Stephen Richardson; Her four grandchildren: Annie Richardson, April Richardson, Ben Hulsey, and Joshua Hulsey.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11am at Hazel Green United Methodist Church with Rev. Kim Scites officiating. Burial will follow in New Sharon Cemetery.
