Dennis McLennan
Orange Park, FL

Dennis (Denny) McLennan, 78 years old, of Orange Park, Florida passed away Saturday, February 3rd at around 3pm at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Middleburg, Florida after a bravely fought battle with Myelodysplasia that entered into acute leukemia just a short time before his passing. His family was with him.

Born in Bellingham, Washington to Edwin (Dusty) Rhoades and Dorothy Grace McBride on October 20th 1940, Denny married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Nell Cooper on July 21st 1962 in Ketchikan, Alaska. Together, they embarked on a 56 year adventure that took them from Alaska to Florida and several places in between including several years in Bellingham, Washington. In 1969, they fulfilled their dream of becoming parents to their only son Jason Christopher McLennan.

Denny served proudly in The United States Air Force during the 60’s and had the opportunity to serve in England for a year. He reminisced on the time that he spent serving his country with great affection. Denny was a talented tinker and fixer of all things. (Don’t know how we’re gonna get that lawnmower started without you Dad!) He had a great love of music and had aspirations as a young man of pursuing something musical. Always quick with a joke and a smile, his sense of humor never failed and he was loved by all who met him. Denny also had a great love for animals, and they loved him right back. His charming spirit will be greatly missed by us all.

Dennis leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Beth McLennan, his son Jason McLennan, daughter-in-law, Christy McLennan, Granddaughter Katelynn McLennan, Grandson Ryan McLennan, Granddaughter Robin Miller, and two great granddaughters, Cadence and Savannah Miller.

Thanks for the memories, the love, and the laughter Den, Dad, Grandpa, Poppi. You will be in our hearts forevermore.

Den, by the rivers of my memory, you’ll always be Gentle on My Mind.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following organization who contributed to his chemo treatments and help thousands with Leukemia all over the state.
