Bertha M. "Bess" Hansman-Baglin

Mass of the Christian burial for Bertha M. "Bess" Hansman-Baglin of Carroll will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 1997, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.

Mrs. Hansman-Baglin, 93, died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Carroll Health Center.

The Rev. Laurence VBurns will officiate the Mass. Lector will be Vern Behrens. Gift bearers will be Sharon Grossman, Joleen Schon and Diane Eischeid.

Casket bearers will be Joe Schmitz, Larry Hansman, George Grossman Jr., Leo Sibenaller, Arthur Behrens and Dennis Sibenaller.

Burial will be in Santa Rosa (Calif) Memorial Park will be at a later date.

Friends will call after 5 and St. Lawrence Parish will hold a Christian wake service at 7 Sunday night at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

A daughter of John Sr. and Anna (Greteman) Hansman, she was born March 17, 1904, in rual Willey. She spent her younger years in Willey community, attending St. Mary School. She graduated from St. Angela Academy in Carroll.

She was employed by Krinsky Fur Co. in Carroll then moved to Des Moines and worked as advertising director for the Des Moines Register newspaper. She later moved to Denver, Colo., and was advertising director for The Rocky Mountain News.

She and John Baglin were married in Denver. Becuase of his poor health, thye moved to Santa Rosa.

Her husband died in 1971. Mrs. Hansman-Baglin moved to Omaha, Neb. in 1989 and had been at Carroll Health Center since 1991.

Mrs. Hansman-Baglin is survived by many nieces and nephews in the Carroll area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; four sisters: Sophia Schmitz, Elizabeth Nagl, Ann Matt and Minnie Hansman; and four brothers: John Hansman, Edward Hansman, Louis Hansman and William Hansman.
