Carol Marie (Goode) Abel, 67, passed away peacefully on February 1 , 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center. She was born on May 17, 1950 in Chicago, IL to Belmont and Laverne Goode.
She was a good mom, loving family and friend, lover of cats, a creative spirit and enjoyed history. Carol was a spunky Irish German. She loved to tell stories about her family and heritage, including her time on her maternal grandmother’s farm in Kankakee, IL. She was a breast cancer survivor and was proud to survive her battle in 1997. Carol worked at Bell South as a secretary until she became a full time mom.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sarah Abel of St. Michaels, MD and Jessica Schneider (and husband Ryan) of Eureka, IL, her sister, Kathleen Reid (and Al) of Huntley, IL, nephew TJ Donohue and niece Kelly Kramer, best friend Diane Roth, and two loving grandsons, Jackson and Landon Schneider of Eureka, IL. She is welcomed into heaven by her parents and her many cats she cared for, including her very special cat, Cleo.
She will be missed greatly and left a mark on all our hearts. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Clancy-Gernon-Houk Funeral Home at 214 W. Sheffield, St. Anne, IL, burial immediately following at Mt. Airy Cemetery, Momence, IL.
