Mary Ellen Gardner Erickson 1935 ~ 2013 Wednesday, June 26, 2013, Mary Ellen Gardner Erickson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on December 19, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Edward Thomas Gardner and Mary Ellen Shelton. On December 20, 1952 she married Wayne Graeme Erickson in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was a 60-year love affair. She attended South High School, was employed at Rocky Mountain Machinery for 38 years. Mary enjoyed reading books, spending time with family and participating in her Scottish heritage. Throughout her life Mary enjoyed doing crafts which included painting ceramics and making dolls for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mary is survived by husband Wayne their four children Guy (Barbara) Erickson, Vickie (Clifford) Downs, Kevin (Terrie) Erickson, and Lorie Erickson Mair; as well as their 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by older brother Gerald Levan Gardner. She is preceded in death by parents, younger brother Robert Keith Gardner, three sisters-in-law, two nephews and two dogs Kalie and Little-Bit-Scot. The memorial service will be held on July 20th and will begin at 11 a.m. in the Taylorsville Garden 2nd Ward LDS Chapel (4252 S Bennion Road Taylorsville, Utah 84119). In lieu of flowers please make donations to the University Lung Health Research Center, a research program Mary participated in for the last 27 years.
