Gordon Russell Schaffer, age 22, of Thompson’s Station, TN, passed away October 20, 2014, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Born in Culpeper, VA, September 7, 1992. Gordon graduated from Independence High School. He enjoyed being in nature, hiking, canoeing, camping, swimming in the rivers and lakes. He also loved animals, especially his all white husky, Katana, who he spent a lot of time playing with and taking her on his adventures. Gordon was extremely outgoing, so he rarely ever had any down time. He was always out and about with friends, doing anything they wanted to do.
Survived by his mother, Mary “Mollie” Buckner; step father, Sam Buckner; sisters, Devan (Steven) Cronin, Julia Schaffer and Sophia Schaffer and niece, Eliana Cronin; grandparents, Robert W. Smith, Theresa Schultheis and Mary Whittaker.
Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 AM Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, with Memorial Services at 11:00 AM, Ward Jones officiating.
In memory of Gordon, memorial donations may be made a First Tennessee Bank, under “Gordon Schaffer Memorial Fund”. and also on Gofundme.com/g5kjb0.

The family wishes to thank the Columbia Police Department for their tireless efforts to bring any bit of justice they can, and appreciate their dedication to finding Gordon’s killers.
