He was married on July 9, 1921 in Sequatchie, Marion County, Tennessee to Sammie Lou Lasater (ca 1900- ). He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the National Fraternal Society for the Deaf.
A publishing house shipping clerk and living at 902 Montrose Avenue, Nashville, he was 65 years old and married when he died suddenly at home of a myocardial infarction on April 9, 1957. Burial was two days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
