Raymond R. Barrie, 94, passed away at home on Thursday, December 28, 2017 with his family around him. Ray was born August 5, 1923 to August and Faye Barrie in Monango, ND. His family later moved to Payette, ID where he spent his childhood. Ray was a member of the greatest generation and served with the Army/Air Force in Africa and Italy during WWII. He met his future wife, Mildred Shimmin, after his return in 1945. They married April 12, 1946 and raised three children in the “House Ray Built”. That house also became the gathering place where the family he loved always gathered.

Ray retired from the PFE Shops in 1983 after more than 33 years with the railroad. He was a true outdoorsman, his passions included hunting everything and fishing everywhere. Ray and Mildred traveled extensively all around the states including Alaska and Hawaii. They were members of Good Sams Club of Nampa and formed many close friendships in that club.

Ray is survived by his wife of 71 years, Mildred; a daughter, Gail (Rock) Ware; a son, Rex (Cindy) Barrie; a brother, Jerome Barrie of CA (passed 1-24-2018); five grandchildren, Tami, Stephanie, Patti, Tyrell, and Jessica; six great and five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Glenda Clark, an infant son, three brothers, and two sisters.
