Albertine (Abbe) Ramseur Foster Dec. 15, 1925 Dec. 27, 2011 Former Resident of Oakland Albertine (Abbe) Ramseur Foster passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Tuesday, December 27 in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Foster was born in Cleveland County, North Carolina and lived in Oakland from 1970 to 1994. She relocated from Philadelphia to Oakland with her husband Dr. Marcus Foster as he took the helm as Superintendent of the Oakland Unified School District. Abbe Ramseur and Marcus Foster married December 30, 1947 in Philadelphia. Following Dr. Foster's assassination in 1973, Mrs. Foster remained as an important part of the Oakland community and was a member of the Church by the Side of the Road in Berkeley. Abbe Foster's memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Taylor United Methodist Church in Oakland. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Marsha Foster Boyd, son-in-law Reverend Kenneth Boyd and granddaughter Evette Stewart.
