18 Sep 1880 date is from secondary sources. Michigan death records give his cause of death as bilious fever (any fever with nausea or vomiting), saying he was buried in White Pigeon Cemetery, White Pigeon, MI, and that he died on 28 Nov 1880. (See Ancestry, Michigan, Death Records, 1867-1950, James Temple, White Pigeon, St. Joseph, MI, Death Register 1867-1897, pp. 172-173, line # 226.) Also, there seems to be some uncertainty about his birth date. At the DAR Library in Washington, DC, there is a volume entitled Cemeteries of St. Joseph County, Michigan, Volume IV 1800-1990, published by the St. Joseph Genealogical Society in 2003, and on p. 414 of that work, his birth was given as 25 Dec 1806. I suspect that was a calculated date based on his age at death, but this is closer to a primary source than the other source of his birth date which was said to be 26 Nov 1806 in Galway, NY, contained in "Some Temple Pedigrees, A Genealogy of the Known Descendants of Abraham Temple who settled in Salem, Mass. in 1636," the original Temple genealogy, by Levi Daniel Temple, published by David Clapp & Son, Boston, MA, 1900. While it also is a secondary source, Levi's genealogy was done closer tot he actual events. Provided by LP Temple Find A Grave ID
