Bruce D. Shepherd Sr., 79, passed away on Feb. 9. 2018, at his home in rural Douglass KS. Bruce was born on Jan. 20, 1939 in Ft. Cobb, the son of William Herbert and Evalena (Stone) Shepherd, who eventually had a family of sixteen children.

Bruce was a 1956 graduate from Ft. Cobb High School. He was married to Vicki E. (Gamez) Shepherd, from August 1959 to August 1968.

He was a skilled auto mechanic and moved to El Dorado KS in 1963 to work for Reed Chevrolet, later working for Losh Motors and owning his own shops in Leon KS. Bruce retired as a professional tool and die maker at Morrell Tool and Die, Wichita KS

He, later in life, enjoyed watching baseball and working on the farm. Bruce was an avid hunter and fisherman. He bowled and played men’s softball in his younger days. Bruce loved playing with, getting photos from, or hearing stories about his grandchildren and great grandchildren, but his greatest joy was watching his grandsons sports.

Survived by three sisters, Faye Jordon and Joyce Kenaga of CA. and Kaye Such of IL. Three children Sandra Kennedy of Brookville KS, Bruce Jr. And Brian of El Dorado KS, four grandchildren, Derek Kennedy of Overland Park Ks, Jennifer Shepherd of Wichita KS, Kelsey Turner and Adam Shepherd both of El Dorado, KS, and four great grandchildren, Kaden Kennedy and, Chevelle, Athena and Harrison Turner.

Preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Herman Ray, Wayne, Ralph, Bert and Joe Ben along with seven sisters, Arlene, Estelee Wilson, June Smith, Juanita Cottrell, Irene Hyatt, Jean Borella and Marylin Griffith.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., on Thursday, at Oak Grove cemetery, Fort Cobb, OK under the direction of the Fort Cobb Funeral Home.
