Robert Lee Kersh, 85, of Salmon, died at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday (Aug 23, 1949) in a Palestine Hospital. A retired section foreman for the Santa Fe Railroad, Mr. Kersh was born in Mississippi on April 27, 1864.

He died on his fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete, pending the arrival of relatives. Interment will be in the Guiceland Cemetery near Grapeland.

Survivors include his wife (Sisley McKay Kersh); four sons, Swanner N. Kersh of El Paso, Rayford M. Kersh of San Antonio, Benjamin E. Kersh of Barksdale Field, La., Wilson M. Kersh of Aransas Pass; six daughters, Mrs. B.E. Ray of Palestine, Mrs. E.C. Pharris of Velasco, Mrs. W.B. LaRue of Houston, Mrs. Wayne L. Brunette of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Wade Owens of Beaumont, and Mrs. Al Joseph Schulete of San Antonio; two brothers, Sam Kersh of Palestine and Charlie Kersh of Lindale; one half-brother, Webb Kersh of Houston; one sister, Mrs. Emma Hollis of Houston; two half sisters, Mrs. Beulah Wells of Houston and Mrs. Elmer Earl of Honroe, La.; 29 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Complete arrangements will be announced by Hassell and Foster Funeral Home.
