After earning her license from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing (Pittsburgh) and her degree in Nursing Education from the university of Pittsburgh, Jo served as an RN and Nurse Educator in Pennsylvania and California. She then pursued a 25-year career in medical quality assurance in the Twin Cities and in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In 1992 she co-founded a Minneapolis CD replicating and electronic publishing business with her husband, Joe.
