Shirley L. Haney (nee Palmer) age 93 of Lagrange and formerly of Elyria passed away Monday February 12, 2018 at her home in Lagrange following a brief illness.

She was born August 7, 1924 in Elyria. The Elyria area had been her home for many years, until her retirement when she and her husband Charles moved to New London where she lived for twenty years before moving to Lagrange.

Shirley attended Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Litchfield, Ohio. She was a former member of St. Jude Church in Elyria. She employed for many years at St. Jude in the rectory as the church secretary. She sang in choir and played the church organ for many years at St. Jude. As a Catholic she enjoyed praying her rosary on daily basis. She was a member of #103 OVI in Sheffield Village living there as a child with her grandparents. While living in New London Shirley became known as the "card lady" for purchasing cards at the local gift store to send out to friends and family. Her greatest joy was her family, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved attending her children and grandchildren's sporting activities and theatre productions over the years. She was an avid Cleveland Indians and Cavs fan.

She is survived by her daughter Tamara (Bob) Verhoff of Lagrange, Ohio, one son Thomas (Ginger) Haney of Pueblo, California, seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles L. Haney, Jr. in 2014, her sisters Lois Holbrook, and Elaine Kubasek; brothers Joe, James, and William Palmer; her parents Paul and Gladys Palmer (nee Bert); and by her grandparents Cale and Lula Stroheimer.

Friends may call Monday, February 26, 2018 from 9: 30 am until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 9608 Norwalk Rd., Litchfield, Ohio, 44253. Burial will follow at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
