He was born on December 20, 1932 in Glenwood, the son of Rufus D. Vaughn, Sr. and Ima Newcomb Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, R D Vaughn and Kendall Vaughn; and two sisters, Glennita Thomason and Elfrieda Vaughn.
Al was a United States Air Force veteran and Baptist in his faith. He retired as computer systems manager for the city of Hot Springs. He had a love for flying and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, as well as the Experimental Aircraft Association of Hot Springs.
He is survived by his son, Paul K. Vaughn of Glenwood; his daughter and son-in-law, Jerra and David Best of Amery, Wisconsin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Marilyn and R L Adcock of Glenwood and Marcie and Malvin Couch of Norman; two grandsons, Steven Best and his wife, Rebecca, and Kyle Best; his great-grandson, Dylan Best with another great-grandson on the way; and a special friend, Betty Williams of Norman.
