John M. Hoff passed away at the Veteran's Hospital in Fargo on December 27th. He was 76 years old and had been a patient at the hospital for the past 16 months.
John was born in Vining, Minnesota, Ottertail County, March 18, 1892 of parents John and Gina Hoff. He came to the Shevlin area with his family when an infant. He served in the Army during World War I from February 23, 1918 to January 18, 1919. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and 2 brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing, the following brothers and sisters: Albert of Clearbrook (Mathilda) Mrs. Willie Beckstrom of Fosston, (Julia) Mrs. Ole Mattson of Shevlin, Henry of Shevlin and (Mabel) Mrs. Vernon Isaacson of Shevlin. There are also 23 nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were held in the Landstad Lutheran Church in Shevlin where he was a member, on Tuesday, December 31st. Pastor Marvin Undseth officiated and interment will be made in the church cemetery. Cease Funeral home of Bagley was in charge of arrangements. Irvin Blix Post 16 of the American Legion was in charge of the military rites.
