Columbus, Ga. - Mr. George P. McLendon, 73, of 405 Westmoreland Road, died Tuesday, June 20, 1995, at his residence. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Main Post Cemetery, Fort Benning, with military honors. Mr. McLendon, a native of Wrens, grew up in Augusta and had lived in Columbus for 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a recipient of a Silver Star and a Purple Heart. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church and was a member of Ducks Unlimited. Survivors include his wife, Jane McLendon; three daughters, Jean Boyd, Athens, and Susan Wightman and Patricia Booker, both of Columbus; a sister, Mary Little, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
