Dr. Larry Allen Baker, 76 of Knoxville, TN. formerly of Huntington, WV, passed away, Thursday, February 15, 2018 at the U.K. Medical Center, Lexington, KY. He was a private Family Practice Doctor for over 35 years in West Virginia and Georgia and currently served as Chief Medical Officer for MEPS in Knoxville, TN; graduate of the WV School of Osteopathic Medicine, worked at the council of Boy Scouts, worked in Medical missions setting up a clinic at an orphanage in India, a U.S. Army and Air Force Veteran and attended Prince of Peace Freewill Baptist Church. He was born December 18, 1941 in Huntington, WV the son of the late, Thomas G. and Christalie Hodges Baker. He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Layne Baker of Knoxville, TN; children, Jody Hammond (David) of Charleston, WV, Christopher Baker (Caryn) of Lewisburg, WV, Andrea Nicely (Aaron) of Huntington, WV, Stephen Howard (Angie) and Mark Howard (Lisa) all of Charlotte, NC; thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Monday, February 19, 2018 at Henson and Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, WV near Barboursville with Pastor Phillip Warren officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Military honors will be provided by the WV Honor Guard and the American Legion Post #139 Milton, WV. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warier Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
